US crude oil stocks rose by 1.1 mln bbls, at the low end of expectations, while gasoline up 2.1 mln bbls and distillate stocks rose 6.4 mln bbls, well ahead of expectations, in the week ended Jan 9, EIA data show. Analysts surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires expected crude oil stocks to rise by 1.8 mln bbls, with forecasts ranging from a rise of 4.5 mln bbls to a fall of 1.7 mln bbls. Gasoline stocks were expected to rise by 1.4 mln bbls, with forecasts ranging from unchanged from a week ago to a rise of 3 mln bbls. Distillate stocks (heating oil/diesel) were expected to rise 800,000 bbls, with forecasts ranging from a rise of 3.2 mln bbls to a fall of 2.3 mln bbls.
